Fecal Pellet Output - Mouse

Measurement of fecal output in the mouse or rat to predict potential constipating effect of a test compound. The test agent is administered and the test animal placed in an individual cage. The number of fecal pellets evacuated and their consistency is noted at various times after drug administration. This test is valuable in evaluating potential constipating or diarrheogenic activity of a test compound.
