Colonic Propulsion Velocity

Clay pellets similar in dimensions to feces are prepared. Guinea pig colon is removed, cut in two and placed in Krebs-bicarbonate buffer solution. Velocity of pellets are determined by placement of pellets into an end of a colon section and the time needed to traverse a demarcated segment noted. This will be done 3 times. Test article will be placed either in the bathing solution or on the serosa and the velocity will again be measured.
